There has not been a new version of Stuffit Expander since September 22, 2010. That was nearly a month ago. RIP, Stuffit. We knew thee well.
Is it free besides that free trial 30 version?
Thanks to the users who suggested Unarchiver, that is great.

Stuffit Expander is always free. Stuffit Standard, which they try to get you to download and use, is not, but the download includes Stuffit Expander, which is, as mentioned, free.
If you look really hard on the Stuffit pages, you can actually find a link to just download Stuffit Expander, without all the other cruft, or at least you could last time I checked, but I'd recommend avoiding it anyways. Haven't liked it for a long time now.

StuffIt Expander sucks so much.
It couldn't uncompress lots of files that I've tried recently.
I've redownloaded it twice to make sure there wasn't anything wrong, but that **** simply can't uncompress some .RAR files (maybe because of compression algoritm).
I've tried The Unarchiver later and it worked well with every .RAR file that I've tried so far.

Were all of your Stuffit Expander-resistant files in .rar format? I have never had trouble with a complete .rar archive in Stuffit Expander. Perhaps you could post a link to your problematic files.
