Apple has quietly dropped the price of the Mac mini in international markets this morning. According to Macerkopf.de, the change is reflected in all markets not priced in U.S. dollars.

In the UK, prices of the two Mac mini models dropped from £649 to £599 and £929 to £879, while in other European countries prices dropped from 809 € to 709 € and 1149 € to 999€. Prices in the U.S. remain unchanged at $699 and $999 for the two Mac mini models.

They really need to drop the price in the U.S.

I wonder if this move is to in effect to show the weakness of the US dollar or push more of these units off of the shelves.

I rated this negative only because no story on Macrumors can only have positive ratings! :D

That and the Canadian price is still the same, 50$ over US when our dollars are on or close to parity.

INteresting..... must be having difficulty sell them? or not going as quick as other markets?

Also... the UK is due to VAT to raise from 17.5% to 20% in the new year.... going to be interesting to see how Apple deal with that.... expecting prices to remain tbh.

Stevie Boy justified the Uk and European prices due to the weak Pound/Euro against the dollar and also the fact that VAT is "built in" the price... well, the Pound/Euro are inching back up and VAT in the UK goes up to 20% in January, so the price drop is probably in preparation for a stronger Pound and VAT Rise.

...Funny how just a £50 drop suddenly makes the Mini look like a much more tempting purchase!

Still far too expensive for an entry-level product. If apple was serious about the budget market, they'd drop the price below £450. Even if that meant making it slightly bigger, or out of plastic.

Still the same in aus. Looks like there will be more complaints from parity partiers expecting cheap macs.

No changes in New Zealand. In fact it went up in price about a month ago due to the change of GST (tax) over here, not that it wasn't overpriced to begin with…

Great News!

But it would be nice to see a price drop in the $99/£99 Apple TV.

Even a few pounds off would make that a much more tempting purchase!

The price of the new mini in the UK never made sense even when it was first released. Apple usually add around 8-12% to the US price (plus VAT) but the mini was about 30% more expensive when it went on sale at £649.

It's only 16% more expensive now. :D

So what? We know that apple does not care about the budget market, and they surely do not if meeting the budget-market demands to compromise on form/styling..

I rated the story negative. With the current Aussie dollar one would think a price around $799 AUD would be appropriate.

Apple doesn't cut down on features to please the budget conscious. dem's thar breaks kiddo. You gotta pay to play.

The Mac mini is appropriately priced compared to its competition in the SFF segment of the PC market.
