Fascination with Monkey user names?

OK, with apologies to monkeybat and inkmonkey,
what's up with all of the "monkey" user names?
The Mac names I get, but the "monkeys"???

There are about 75 different usernames that have "monkey" in them.
By contrast, there are only about 20 or so with "dawg" associated with them.

We have plain monkey and latestmonkey

Along with closely named monkeys:

Not sure what the great monkey fascination is. Maybe it's because they look like little people. But I guess by that logic everyone should have a midget fascination too. I know few people who do and in my case I consider it more of a fetish.
