Pre-purchase question: shared address books accessible on iPhone?

Hello,

I'd like to purchase a MobileMe Family pack for me and my wife. One question remains: if we keep separate address books, but share them with each other, will it be possible to access both address books on my iPod touch too? My wife doesn't have an iDevice, so we'd love to use the iPod as our common address book when we're not at home.

Oh, and if yes, will all addresses be accessible for third party apps which have address book integration?
