"You need to restart your computer. Hold down the Power button until it turns off..."

Hi,

I just had to restart my computer (Macbook Pro 13") for the first time in history.

Getting this message box on the screen forcing me to restart it:

"You need to restart your computer. Hold down the Power button until it turns off" [...]

Here´s the error report for it:

About "You need to restart your computer" (kernel panic) messages via "you need to restart your computer mac"

And you can't make sure to never have it happen again. They occur, not as often as the BSOD, but they do come up every now and then - maybe once or twice a year, maybe more often, maybe even less. I had less than 20 Kernel panics with five Macs in six years.

You can't really make sure it can never happen again. Things like that happen from time to time, and if its your first ever kernel panic, I wouldn't worry about it too much

Anyone know why this occured...? How can I make sure it will NEVER happen again?

Life.

Probably a hard drive issue as the unloaded kernel extensions are referencing IOkit.

Boot to the install disk (put the disk in, restart the machine, and hold option after pressing the power button), click through the first menu until you see the menu bar appear then click Utilities > Disk Utility. Select your internal drive and hit 'repair disk' on the lower right hand side of the screen.

Let us know if the repair is successful

Seems like Parallels is the culprit. Do a PRAM reset.
