i was updating the software on my iPod Shuffle 4 th gen ( the latest one) using my windows 7 desktop when everything hung. Now nothing happens in the iPod shuffle when i press any of the buttons and the device is not detected in iTunes to update.

what should i do ? will it covered under warranty if something is wrong ?

This should be covered with a warranty. I think the best thing to do is to call apple care as you do have three months of free tech support. They can walk you through some common problems you might be experiencing.

Can you play the iPod at all? Or is it dead?

it is completely dead. even the small light doesnt glow no matter what i do.

i dont have any point of sale receipt as it was a gift from my brother. what proof will they require for warranty coverage, being the latest generation could that be a problem ? .. note that there are no apple stores in India
