DVD player won't "resume" from last point played

No matter what I cannot get the DVD player to resume at the last point played on a disc. I have it set in Pref's to start playing discs from last position played and it always starts at the beginning.

Any ideas how to fix this? I'm running 10.3.7 and DVD Player 4.0.

usually when you put the disk in a menu comes up asking you whether you want to return to the last point played or start from the beginning
 
Hmm... Try throwing out the plist files for DVD player. When apps do weird stuff like that, sometimes having them re-create the plist from scratch helps.
