I've seen a ton of power issues, but none like mines.
so...
To make a long story short (sort of):
I've had this mac for a while now. Few months after having it, spilled something on the keys, still stayed on, keys just didn't work right. Spill fell on the power button, and slid over to the keys. No warranty, no Apple care, so after calming from shock I did it myself. Waited a few days so it could dry (upside down) of course. Luckily the MBP comes with a multi-layer keyboard and I didn't see any moisture on the Logic. Replaced that and upon completion it didn't power on and didn't do so for hours until I placed it down came back later then it powered up. Worked fine for the longest.
Couple months ago I had the same issue. Turned it over to check the type of memory for upgrade, put everything back together. When I turned it over it doesn't come on, even after holding the power button forever. Figured the top case wasn't sitting right, so after removing the top and placing it back on it came back on. Once again, its Great.
Now I'm out of commission again because the power button, I suppose. took it to the Genius, and he told me there was a few problems..didn't want to go against their word, but it doesn't even power on to tell about the problems. He's a super genius to look at a logic board and see issues, just wish He could tell me them. Called the TECHNICAL hot line, and I get the same answer as the genius "Take it to an authorized reseller." (Not angry, its just kind of ironic to ask a genius and a technical hot line and they tell u to go to the 'little guy' so to speak.)
I figure I'd look to buy a new power button and start my own troubleshooting. I don't Want to assume my Logic is gone... although If it was I'm sure it would still power up to Tell me its gone.
So, does anyone have any suggestions at all? Anything can help.
If you make it this far, I sincerely appreciate you reading that.
Remember, I cant reset stuff because I cant power it on.
Yes, it shows power on the battery when its plugged in, and the light its bright green when the battery is out and the cord is in the book itself.
