The AirPlay icon doesn't appear on the iPod app on my iPad. Well it did momentarily, but it disappeared when I turned the AirPort Express off. When I turn it on again without reconfiguring it, the icon is missing.
However, I am able to use AirPlay with my Mac to the AirPort Express. I did switch to local speakers on my Mac before trying to use AirPlay on the iPad.
By the way I'm using the Express as a wireless bridge where my main network is a Time Capsule. My Mac and iPad are all connected to the same WiFi network.
