New Pepsi-iTunes Promotion?

So i went on a last-minute jaunt to the little mini mart across the street from my apartment, to get a diet dr. pepper, mere moments before they closed. Instead, i spy with my little eye, a diet pepsi with a yellow cap and a "1 in 3 Wins a Free Song" label. So i grab 2 of them and a king size Mounds bar, thinking nothing of it.

Meanwhile I get home, crack the bottle open and behold! A winner.
I proceed to open iTunes and redeem my song. No sign of a "click here for pepsi song" button. ok, i find a "redeem" link on the side. I click and enter my code. No dice. So I go look at iTunes.com as it says to. No dice. I search the forums, nothing.

So what's the deal? Is the retailer in the wrong for putting these on the shelf before the promo goes active? Anyone else have any info?

p.s. for the sake of argument. Yes, i do realize the irony of diet pepsi and a candy bar w/480 calories of coconut goodness.

that thing happened last year after the superbowl.

i'm not sure if they are doing it again this year though......

still fresh. i feel like this is something that i'm going to wake up and it will be all over slashdot, macrumors, itunes... etc.

It actually didnt do very well last year.

Thousands upon thousands wernt claimed. That bottle probably been sitting there for a year.... lol

I thought I had heard some rumors that it was going to happen again this year. If this cap is true, that certainly is a good sign as last year's promotion was fatally marred by slow distribution that had many people searching for the specially marked bottle.
If Pepsi can get the bottles out and do a better commercial, maybe there will be a higher redemption rate... I think the final report was only like 5 million of the possible 100 million were redeemed last year.

yeah, i kinda suck at photoshop.

By the way, im not really concerned with how much bandwidth this whole thing draws, because it's my server, and i run the isp, so no skin off my bandwidth.

Well, you could just call the 800 number if you doubt the authenticity. If it were a fake, it would be the most expensive, overproduced fake in history.

As for the single women who will be drawn to some guy who scanned a soda label...not sure they'd be relationship material, Otter.

I have no doubts about the authenticity. Just the reason it's not popping up anywhere. Pepsi.com has no details about it. Apple has no details about it.

As for the notice of availability... not because i posted the label, because i'm generally pretty funny, and nice to be around. Girls, go read my websites, ignore my friends who also post stuff there.

Anyway, you never really know when or where you'll meet the right girl. But following the trends of the site, the ones who read that will tend to be mac girls anyway, and likely have similar politics to my own. Not that the politics are the most important thing though.

Well, we all know how well the last promo went. If this is the real deal, would be pretty cool. I don't drink much Pepsi, but my friends do. Got a couple of songs last time.

Some of them have iPods now though, so we'll see.

Chance to win an iPod mini, too. Wonder if that means new ones, coming soon.
