Outlook's "Show Reply" feature not working

The "Show Reply" feature on Outlook 2011 is not working for messages imported from the Entourage 2008 database. If you click "Show Reply" on one of your messages in your Inbox folder, it will pull up a random message from your Sent Items folder that is completely unrelated to the original.

Have any of you noticed this? If so, please post about it here.

It appears that the "Show Reply" feature only works for messages/replies recently written in Outlook 2011. But if the messages/replies were originally written in Entourage and imported into Outlook (by importing the whole Entourage database), then the "Show Reply" feature does not work. It pulls up a random message totally unrelated to the original.

Well, if no one here has experienced this (yet?), does anyone here have any guesses as to what could be causing this problem?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Has anyone here NOT experienced this problem?

Has anyone here not experienced this problem? I mean, has anyone here imported their Entourage 2008 database into Outlook 2011, and then clicked on "Show Reply" in many of their old e-mail messages (originally from Entourage), and then found the feature to work properly (i.e., it displayed the reply e-mail instead of displaying an unrelated e-mail message)?

Since this particular bug does not involve any crashing, there is no dialog box that appears for me to describe the bug and send it to Microsoft. So, do any of you know how to report this type of bug to Microsoft?

By the time you have 6 posts in a thread that no one else has posted in, it's time to stop posting. Obviously no one knows or cares enough to post an answer to your question.

Mind your own business, you troll. Just because you don't care about a particular thread doesn't mean that others do not. I know that's a foreign concept to narcissists like yourself. People who actually do care about a certain thread but don't have any answers to post, still care about the topic.

Entourage 2008 is one the most widely used e-mail programs on the Mac platform. Many are switching to Outlook 2011, but since it was recently released, there are not many reports on certain bugs. For people with a large Entourage 2008 e-mail database, this is an important topic.

ThomasJL : 10/10 for persistence.
Mal : 0/10 for help.

I've just had this problem myself and this post came up near the top in Google.

I had to call Microsoft in the end so I can offer an explanation in my circumstances that may help anyone reading this.

Yesterday I installed Outlook 2011 next to Entourage 2008 and did an Import from Entourage from the main (only) identity, and hit the same problem.

I called MS saying it was an Outlook issue, when in fact it is an Entourage issue.

When I checked on my Hosted Exchange account via OWA, there were no Reply/Forward flags on that Inbox either.

I was expecting this to work, as it HAD worked on another upgraded Mac a few weeks earlier. I checked this Exchange mailbox with OWA and yes, all the flags were there.

So MS agreed that the issue was in Import from the Entourage database and that this Entourage mailbox had not been syncing correctly for months, and in fact had been rebuilt many times.
So although the flags are all there in Entourage, they are not being sync'd to the Exchange account, and also cannot be exported out. (I tried twice).

They offered one hope - to Export all the messages and try an Import to Outlook via an RGE file, and see if the flag come too.
I will try that and report back.

So essentially this is due to a corrupted Entourage database, not a problem with Outlook.

Cheers,
DK

Outlook "Show Reply" Function

I can't get the "Show Reply" function to work on any message even new ones that weren't imported from Entourage. So it sounds like by importing Entourage to Outlook has completely disabled and corrupted the Outlook function ability?

"Show Reply" flaw; further detail....

I just upgraded to Outlook/Office 2011. I imported 20,000 emails from Entourage 2008. I too noticed that some (not all) of the imported emails did not produce my replies when I hit "Show Reply"

I found the following:
Scenario #1
* I send an email
* I get a reply
* I reply to this received email
* the received email shows the button "Show Reply"
* I hit that button and get nothing.

Scenario #2
* I receive an email
* I reply to the received email
* the received email shows the button "Show Reply"
* I hit that button and get the reply.

I'll post this with uSoft.

"Show Forward" not working

I'm into Office 2011 only a few days now. I found another flaw:
"Show Forward" didn't work on at least one email.
