Hi!
I need to buy a new housing for my imac 27"
It is a core i5 2,8ghz quad core.

I found out these part n/o:
# 922-9621 (imac mid 2010)
# 922-9166 (imac late 2009)

As i can see from pictures they look the same, but do anyone know if the late 2009 chassis will fit mine?

Here are two ebay links:

922-9166: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320626641798&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123

922-9621: http://img.inkfrog.com/click_enlarge1.php?image=202_5409.JPG&username=brluyilu04&aid=576775241

Anybody who knows?

likely because his old housing got destroyed by him or by someone else and he bought the guts
but they should likely be the same

Yepp! bought a destroyed imac with broken glass and housing (he had accidently dropped it from a table) for $1530 (a new in sweden costs $3076) so now i've bought a new glass and housing for $247

don't mean to bring this thread back from the dead but i feel like my head is gonna explode from days of searching to find no definitive answer. i have the same iMac as the OP, 27" 2.8 i5 mid-2010. i too needa replace the housing/casing since mine recently acquired a knarly dent on the top left corner. everything on the machine works fine but my ocd can't take it anymore. so my question is to the OP or anyone, does the casing from the 2009 or even 2011 compatible with my mid 2010. I've found listings that state the casing their selling would work for models 2009 to mid 2010 but when i look at the compatibility list, a bunch of configurations are listed, core 2 duo, i7, even i5 but its 2.66 or a different clock speed. not the 2.8.
I'm going crazy here guys. has anyone changed out their casing with one from a different year. to the OP, I'm hoping when you bought the new glass and casing for $247 you went with the 2009 one you linked and it all worked out. the price disparity is too great not to inquire about this. i see 2009 and 2011 casings for $100. 2010 that works with mine, 300+.....

While I've got no first-hand knowledge, I would suggest only buying the case/glass specified for your exact model (2011, 2012, etc.).

Motherboard changes and differences undoubtedly are going to cause mounting differences inside, regardless of the fact that the external ports may be in exactly the same place.

You should sent them a message with your critical question before you buy

Yeah that's what I intend to do. No other options really.
