Several distribuitors sell an extended warranty or camera protection plan:

The one I have taken a look at is the following, that covers a camera like the EOS 5D Mk II: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/524141-REG/NEW_SCC3_1750.html
How would it work if you buy the camera from a different retailer than one offering you the extended warranty plan ??
