Clamshell mode question

Hi guys

I want to use clamshell mode when watching a movies and having the MBA connected to my TV. However, a peripheral device seems to be needed to wake the MBA up after closing the lid. Any way to avoid this (ie having the MBA wake up using only the connecttion to the TV by mini-DP to HDMI cable)?

I looked up the Apple literature for this today for my own question, and it said there needs to be either a keyboard or mouse to wake it up.
