So why do I need an iPad?

I was checking out the iPad at Best Buy and i love the whole idea, but can't figure out a solid reason to get one, I love my MBP, use it all the time, but can't seem to figure out what I would use the iPad for, other than surfing the Internet.

You probably don't need one.

If you "love" the idea of it, wouldn't it be up to you to figure out why you need one?

Everybody has reasons as to why, personally, I got one for my parents because their old PC wasn't cutting it.

Nobody "needs" most things. It's all about personal satisfaction.

You don't need an iPad, but that does not stop them from being useful.

it's all personal preference

I am trying to justify buying one, I would use it at home on wifi on the Internet, maybe buy a few games or movies.

I teach Elem Ed, I am not sure what apps they have I could use, but then I have the issue of how I can use them in class in a Microsoft world.

Maybe I get one for the novelty of having one and use it around the house so I don't have to carry the laptop from room to room

i play a lot of music, and there are tons of music based app's for the ipad. i run an adaptor from the ipad HP jack into my mixer and play out the amp. it sounds great and adds new possibilities to music / recording IMHO. plus the tons of other things i use it for lol

So there is no speaker on it, I do have speakers I can hook up to it, but then again I can use my iPod touch and keep the iPad space free.

No one needs an iPad.

Its one of the most fun things I have bought in ages but they are hard to justify buying. Still pleased I did tho.

There is a speaker on it. Works great in most semi-quiet environments.

My iPad has rendered my MB useless except for using it to add or subtract content from said iPad.

If you don't know why you need it, you don't need it. Move on. Nothing to see here.

Well I am seeing what people use them for, and maybe I could use it for the same reason.

So why do you need someone to tell you what to do? I assume no one needs to tell you when to eat, or sleep, or poop? These are pretty much adult decisions. If you have to ask then you don't need one. Did you really need to start a thread to discuss something that has been discussed already a million times?

Honestly, in a LOT of situations, your iPad can replace your laptop. You would be surprised. I use mine far more than I use my laptop now.

Nope, since you only use the internet. Your MBP will serve that purpose.

I am not asking people to tell me what to do, I was asking why I need one, maybe there is something about them I do not know, a useful app, for example.

Apparently I did need to start the thread, you obviously read the thread title and you could have opted to not read the thread since there are a million of them, so don't complain. Next time read the thread title and decide if you wish to partake in the topic.

Have a great day!
