icons in stack folders

umm perhaps you are right, well im trying to have folder icons in my stacks folders in the dock. i ve attached a pic of the stacks folders i have in my dock, and i point with a red arrow the folder i want it to have a different folder icon, a custom one... i hope i make more sense now! 😉

You can add a custom icon to any folder, and it will show in the dock:
The result should be the item you want has the icon you want. You can then drag it to your dock and it will show on the stack.
- Right-click the item with the desire icon and choose Get Info
- In the Info window that appears, click the icon in the corner and copy it (like you would copy anything else)
- Close the window, and open an Info window for the item whose icon you want to change
- Click its icon, and paste like you would normally
The result should be the item you want has the icon you want. You can then drag it to your dock and it will show on the stack.

Create a folder elsewhere and change the icon using the following steps:
After you have customized the folder icon, then drag that folder to the Dock, which will create an alias with the same icon. Right-click on the folder in the Dock and select "Display as" > FolderTo change the icon for any disk, app, file or folder:
- Copy the image you want to use, from any source (Command-C)
- Locate the app, file or folder in Finder
- Right-click and "Get Info" or Command-I
- Click the icon in the upper left corner of the Get Info window
- Command-V to paste
thanx guys very helpfull indeed, but why wont it keep the color that ive set for the folder through osx?

Can you post any screen captures? It would help explain what you're trying to do.

no need for screenshots, i got what u meant before, im referring to the label colors provided for folders, why wont those colors (red, purple, yellow, green, blue etc.) work when you place a colored folder in the dock

If you're referring to the colors shown in this screen capture, found by right-clicking a folder, those colors are for the label, not the folder. Labels don't show in the Dock, only a mouse-over name.
just one more thing, is there someplace that has wonderful icons that i can place on my folders?
