Just got iPad, need recommendations

If you're a student try Notes Plus App. I find it very useful for meetings.
Other than that I can recommend GoodReader, AppShopper (free), FlipBoard (news, twitter, facebook) or Pulse (I use both).
 
Well, there are lots of great apps, but here are some of the best, most addictive iPad apps in my opinion:

Plants vs Zombies HD (can't recommend this enough) £5.99
Osmos HD £3.99
Cut the rope HD £1.19
Angry Birds HD (again, an amazing app)
Pages would be a useful app to have £5.99
iBooks (which is of course free)
And fruit ninja HD (one of the most addictive apps you will ever buy) £3.99
And I haven't bought it, but it looks quite good: World of Goo for iPad. £5.99
 
I have to recommend "World of Goo". Possibly the most addictive game I have played on the iPad. Absolutely awesome.

Thumb Jam gets a vote too, if you're even slightly into creating music.

Osfoora HD for your twitter needs.
 
You must buy plants vs zombies I would pay 50 dollars for this app. But I see it's on sale now for 7 dollars original price is 10. I can't recommend this app enough

While VLC works great on the Mac, it did nothing on the iPad. I get a wmv file via email, and on the iPad VLC player just shuts down. (Which is a good thing 99% of the time;) ). I then have to go to the Mac and VLC plays it. (unfortunately ).

Any advice?

ABC app ? Come on, other than Ulgy Betty, there is no decent content.

Initially VLC didn't work properly for me either. Believe it or not, I deleted it, then reloaded & it's worked perfectly since.

When I am bored I've watched V. For awhile it did carry 'The Gates' which got somewhat decent at the end when it was too late. The also had one episode of their best sitcom in sometime online as well, 'Better Off Ted'. That alone made the app worth it. For a free app, it's not a burden to put on the iPad.
 
Zombie smash hd (absolutely addictive and a blast)
Aralon hd (great and really big rpg)
Flipboard (turns your facebook, twitter, and google reader feeds into a book).
 
I would like to know whether I schools buy the angry birds game for iPhone and press the 2x button or get the HD version?
By the way spider the secret of Bryce manor is pretty nice.

Try OPlayer. I find it's a better universal player than VLC on the iPad.
