Can't find Blank CD on desktop.

When I insert a blank CD into my iMac I can't find it on the desktop or in the Finder. I have tried several CDs but they I still can't find them.
I am thinking this is a very simple thing.

Yes

Another thing. If their is data on the CD it will show up on the the Desktop.

I already have that selected. Should I have it open in Finder?
