Angry iBooks on iPad and iPod Touch after jailbreak

Hello all. I have an iPad (32 GB wi-fi only, jailbroken) and an iPod Touch (32 GB, jailbroken). Both devices say "There is a problem with the configuration of your (insert device name here). Please restore with iTunes and reinstall iBooks. Can anyone else out there confirm if this is a problem with the jailbreak and if so, are there and fixes for it?

Thanks!

Mine works, jail broken using redsn0w, iOS 4.2.1, iPad 64GB 3G. I haven't jail broken my phone because I'm leery of a tethered jailbreak on, well, my cellphone!

I would suggest uninstalling and then reinstalling iBooks via the App Store. But, for grins, DID you connect it to itunes? Obviously you don't want to do any software updates or anything, but syncing is perfectly fine and might solve your issue.

This is a known issue, and apparently a bug in the most recent version of iBooks. Some people have reported that the issue was resolved by deleting and reinstalling iBooks. But unfortunately, that hasn't worked for me. It's also unclear whether this issue is related to jailbreaking or not, as some people seem to have this problem without being jailbroken.

Upshot is, I'm just waiting and hoping the issue will be resolved in the next iBooks update.

It is a known issue with any books purchased from the bookstore. If you put your own books on there, you won't have the problem. It deals with the addition of sandboxing in the most recent release of iBooks. The only way to get around it is to install the older version of iBooks.

No problem here,

iTunes 10.1.1(4)
iPad 4.2.1(8C148) un-tethered
iBooks 1.2(308)

best wishes mate!
don't forget to post your solution for future reference

Just keep closing & reopening iBooks, it will eventually open your book. You might have to do it 10 times, but it will work.

Its only some books which are affected with this bug, and its only sometimes these books don't open. But everyone who has reported it is jailbroken, so it is something to do with that.

Uninstalling ibooks & reinstalling won't do anything.

People will also say they don't have the issue because it doesn't happen every time and it is only books purchased from the iBooks store. I asked one of the Chronic Dev Team members and was told it deals with the sandboxing of the new iBooks. If you look at the changes, you will see that was just added.
