Display drivers stopped responding

Whenever I'm on windows 7 on my MBP (see sig for specs) and I'm playing a game or am on youtube my screen always goes black for a second then fixes itself and a pop up comes up on the bottom right saying "Display driver nvidia windows kernel mode driver, version 258.96 stopped responding and has recovered." It didn't start until I installed the 260.99 drivers, so I reinstalled the stock bootcamp drivers then reinstalled the 258.96 drivers and it still does it (even when its on stock clocks), its REALLY annoying, any ideas?
 
No I haven't, just because I really want the ability to overclock and to have the better performance that the legit 330m drivers provide
 
Well, if it's the "legit" drivers causing the problem, then what's the point? It's an important diagnostic step. You need to see what it takes to make the problem go away.
 
well I tried reinstalling the boot camp drivers both ways and they both failed, I just put the cd in and did it that way, still had the same problem except with the 260.99 drivers which I updated to earlier, then I went to the device manager and removed the driver and tried reinstalling the boot camp drivers but it ended up removing the 330m from my hardware list so I had to do a system restore to get it back
 
Why did you downgrade the drivers?

You may have to uninstall the drivers/hardware reboot then reinstall the correct drivers.
 
I downgraded because when I did upgrade to 260.99 the problem started so I downgraded and it carried over to 258.96
 
First, you likely have a mess of drivers installed on that system as the Nvidia drivers don't uninstall cleanly. Boot in safe mode and run this...

It will remove all of the Nvidia drivers. Then load the apple drivers and forget about OC'ing the video card on a MBP. Heat alone will kill you and will cause the crashing and the lack of response. If you want to OC a machine, Apple is not the way to go.

would agree with this, Apple actually underclocked the 330m cause it can't take the heat, your gonna damage your board by overclocking if you can't control the heat....undervolting etc. may help if youre a novice overclocker I wouldnt recommend doing it to a laptop
