iOS decrease gap size of UITableView's content index scrubber

Hi all,

I've got a UITableView with the content indexes on the side looking exactly like the iPod app. I'd like to make it look more like the facebook app where you scroll through your friends and the indexes on the side are more "scrunched" together. Is this possible to do with documented API?

Hmm I thought the facebook contact list tableview was the same size as the ipod tableview, but on second look, the search bar doesn't move on the facebook app so the tableview must be smaller.... which explains why the content indexes are more scrunched together. That explains things.
