knobtwiddler macrumors regular Original poster Jan 23, 2011 #1 I have a Seagate 2TB external HD formatted as MS-DOS FAT and it takes a few minutes to load on my macbook. It loads up quickly on the imac which it was formatted on. I've never had a HD do this. Any way to speed it up?

MacTribe macrumors member Jan 23, 2011 #2 If you havent got much on it yet, try re-formatting on the slow Mac and see if it improves anything. Does it have to be in FAT32 format?
