Goodreader File interchange

I wasn't sure about this. When you open a file from mail on the iPad into Goodreader, will a copy of that file be saved in Goodreader? And if you were to then open that same file in Pages, would the changes be saved back or would you have to email the edited document back to yourself from Pages. Would Pages save a copy of that file as well?
