I have a G5 tower/ 1.8ghz single processor. Can i upgrade/ take out and put in some extra stuff to make it run run faster or close to the newer ones. Pull out the guts and replace with something better. Or should i just buy a new one?

You can upgrade to a single 2.0ghz processor but finding one that will work can be a hassle. Also finding the software to run the thermal calibration can be a pain too. Upgrading the memory to 4gb+ and installing a faster hard drive or dual hard drives in a RAID0 also helps. Other than that not much else you can do besides building yourself a hackintosh or just stuff some PC guts in there and run windows.
