Who is US Cellular?
You're more likely to get T-Mobile and Sprint on board before a teeny, regional carrier like US Cellular.

All major US Carriers will probably get the iPhone when the 5 comes out or near the end of the year.

US Cellular provides service where Verizon doesn't

Although US Cellular uses CDMA, it provides service in many areas that Verizon does not operate. There are US Cellular stores in California, Illinios, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennesse, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin---hardly a teeny regional carrier. It will sure be nice when they offer the iPhone because my only other option is AT&T which has a terrible signal in my area.

Verizon didn't do an exclusive on the CDMA iPhone, so it's just up to US Cellular to make their own deal with Apple.

probably sometime after the iPhone 5 comes out, it's not exclusive to Verizon, but Apple, is going to be selling as many CDMA iPhones as they can make on Verizon for a while so it doesn't make sense for it to go to other carriers quickly.

As frustrated as I am to have limited choices, US Cellular's $24.95/mo for unlimited messaging and mobile internet plan is not expensive, by comparison. They are the 6th largest cell phone service in the country, and coverage extends to all Verizon areas at no charge.

I doubt you will ever see an iPhone on a regional carrier without jailbreaking....Tmobile and Sprint would obviously have more financial muscle to negotiate with Apple

I dont see really many carriers getting it unless they use lte. I mean is apple going to make 5 different versions of this phone? T-mobile is going hspa+ only, sprint is wimax, i mean come on really?

After T-mobile and Sprint. Don't be surprised if they never get it.

So the Verizon iPhone could not be unlocked and switched to another CDMA carrier?

Only if the phone's ESN number is in the system. CDMA phones would be considered unlocked if it wasn't for that.

Theoretically it could be, but you'd have to talk the carrier into adding it to its database, which I don't think any of them will do.

I do know that MetroPCS will port CDMA devices over to their network. I figured if you are convincing enough, they would be able to.
