What does this mean and has it happened to you guys? I step away from my ipad that was on and come back to see a blank or turned off screen and when I kept tapping the home button or on and off side switch nothing occured. I tried resetting it by holding both but still wouldnt respond. I tried putting it in an outlet and nothing as well not even the charge nose. I kept trying and eventually it restarted or reset and am using it again. But why did this occur and should I be worried?
I've had issues like this with Navigon (iPhone version, pre-universal) running on an iPad. It would spontaneously crash the whole OS, leaving the iPad in a subborn state where it alarmingly will not turn on - but this is only for 10 seconds or so - seems like an eternity, sits at the Apple logo for 15-20 minutes, and then starts up again like nothing ever happened.
The last time it did this it did it a bit differently. I hopped in the car, checked email, sent off a reply and put it down on the passenger seat. I got home, clicked the home button - nothing. Power/sleep switch - nothing. Did the reset - nothing. Plugged it in to USB - nothing.
Brought it to the Apple Store. a genius plugged it into one of their test computers asked me if I backed up my iPad. I said that I did a few days ago, he said "good", and after a moment started to perform Last Rites on it.
