How to stop iPhoto popping up every time I put in SD card?

Every time I insert my SD card, iPhoto pops up. Is there any way to stop this from happening?

You can designate what application you want to launch when a camera is detected.

Iphoto

Go into Iphoto, Preferences and put "no application" for what should happen when camera is detected. It works the same for just an SD card.

You can also use Image Capture (in your Application folder) to tell which program to launch (or do nothing in your case) when different devices such as an iPhone, P&S camera, SD card etc connect to your Mac.

Agree, Yosemite launches iPhoto, no way to.....

Nuke it off your system and get Lightroom or equivalent.

I hate iPhoto...

Haaaaaaaaaa. I fixed it.
Open Image Capture
connect your camera or insert your memory card
once it pops in the image capture there will be a tiny arrow on lower left corner. hit it.
choose whatever program you want or hit other for more.
now SD card opens lightroom

Excellent! I had the same problem (after installing Yosemite), and this worked for me.

In my case I selected "No Application." That way it doesn't always open Lightroom when I stick the card in (I don't always want it to open). But if I already have LR open when I stick in the SD card, the LR importer opens automatically. Perfect!
