You can designate what application you want to launch when a camera is detected.
MBP 15", Apple LED Cinema Display, iPhone 4S, iPad3, 4GB iPod Nano, Canon 1Ds3 and a couple L's, a lighting strategy and most important, imagination.

You can also use Image Capture (in your Application folder) to tell which program to launch (or do nothing in your case) when different devices such as an iPhone, P&S camera, SD card etc connect to your Mac.
