Apple last updated the MacBook Pros almost one year ago with Intel's Core i5 and i7 processors. Apple has been due to refresh the MacBook Pros with the latest Intel Sandy Bridge processors which are said to be a significant improvement over last year's processors.

MacBook Pro stock has been dwindling internationally and this morning two Italian sites listed give new MacBook Pro part numbers (MC720, MC721, MC723, MC724, and MC725) that are said to represent the new updates. The new machines are said to be making their way to Italian resellers towards the end of the month with a released date of Thursday or Friday.

We've since heard reliable confirmation that this information is accurate and that the expected release date is next Thursday, February 24th. The move would be a bit unusual for Apple to launch new machines on a Thursday. So, if you are about to buy a new MacBook Pro, wait until next week.

Just got mines :p

JK. Good luck to all purchasing this gen. Hopefully you get your blu ray, USB 3.0 , 6Gbps SATA, onboard SSD, LightPeak, Firewire 3200 and all else your little hearts desire.

Any word on LightPeak being included? There was a lot of talk about that last year, but not so much recently. Whatever happened to "early 2011" for that?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)

Should I start lining up now? J/k. Is apple likely to have a major change without an event to announce it/ show it off? Let's hope for more than a few bump ups.

Sounds, great. I get back home on thursday so that would be perfect!

Really though, there have been so many dates listed already, I'm not holding my breath.

I just got my a new 15 last year, im sure i don't need another, and chances are other than processor nothings different, but a new lighter design would tempt me, to sell or not to sell that is the question :/

If 24th means no press event, I'm guessing there won't be any cosmetic changes as reported by some. I'm hoping for a bit of SSD.

So, less than a week and no media invitations or any indication of a keynote presentation. If it's a quiet update, it'll most likely just be the upgrades to the internals, not a macbook air style redesign.

Good timing... Looking at dumping my old Windows setup and switching to an Apple replacement. All I really need (as in, for work) would be Paralells and running older games (mid 2000's era, 800x640 windowed res). This sounds perfect for that.
