The back story: I have old animated and live action videos I want to transfer to DVD; the sad thing is they're so old that they have a few image quality problems. Some are just plain blurry, some have a ghost image of itself, some are too dark, etc.

Here's what I have iMac w/ Intel Core i7 16 GB memory.

Here's the process to get the VHS video to my computer that I can manage with the hardware I have: VHS to DVD, DVD to Mac, Mac to DVD.

My question is after I get the video to my Mac are there any applications, filters, anything that I can run the ripped video through to get rid of the blurriness, ghost image, darkness, etc?

I've done some google searching and the general consensus was to pay somebody else to do it. Is this possible to do myself?

Thanks for any help!! :D
