Change Mission Control/ Launch Pad Folders Background?

Is it possible to change that background of Mission Control (see here: http://arstechnica.com/apple/news/20...ion-so-far.ars) and the background of launch pad folders?

I mean that grey metal wallpaper or whatever it's supposed to be.

I hope Apple doesn't force us with just this one wallpaper for all.

I have not tried this but am 99 percent sure it will work.

Go to System/Library/Coreservices/Dock.app.
Right click Dock.app and click "show package contents"
Go to Contents/Resources/

In here there should be 3 pictures named "defaultdesktop" "defaultdesktop1440x900" "defaultdesktop1920x1200"

Back up these 3 files and replace them with a picture of your choice. Make sure your pictures are the correct sizes. "defaultdesktop" is 256x256. The other 2 are shown in their name.

Restart the dock to implement the change->
open Terminal.
Type and enter "killall Dock" without the quotes. It should work. Hopefully

Time to bump this great tip! Worked perfectly for me (though I only found one 'default desktop' file to replace in my resources folder).

For those that are interested, I made a small utility that will change Mission Control's background. It includes several sample backgrounds as well.

What I need is a utility that will allow me to control the layout of the mission control desktops.

if you are using a laptop and have it connected to an additional monitor, you must choose your wallpaper to accommodate the larger size of the two.

For example, the screen resolution of my MBP is 1680x1050 and the resolution of my HD monitor is 1920x1080. When is chose a wallpaper at 1680x1050 for the defaultdesktop.png, mission control appeared tiled on the larger HD monitor and looked terrible.

I tried again with a resized 1920x1080 wallpaper and voila!, mission control properly displays a full size wallpaper on my HD monitor and works just fine on my MBP.

**Note: If you choose a larger resolution wallpaper than your MBP supports, it will not compress to fit, but rather bleed the image off the top and right side. This means that images or patterns can be cut off or look uneven depending on the wallpaper

Roland, I am interested in your idea. What exactly did you have in mind?
