So I wanted to finally have the capability of syncing my Handspring in OSX, so I went to the Palm website and downloaded the new Palm Software (4.0) It installed itself, upgraded...yada yada yada. I sync up my Handspring Visor deluxe and it's upgrading the address book and so forth. Next thing you know, the Visor tells me press the reset button!?!!?!?! I do this.... I try to reload my Visor and BAM! same thing again. I finally decide to go to the Handspring website and they don't recommend using the new Palm software with the Handsprings. Apparently the handspring pda's can't use it and there's no way of going back to 2.6.1! After the palm software upgrades all your files, it's basically too late.

So to all of you that has a visor and want to use OS X, DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT INSTALL PALM 4.0 Now I have to wait for another Palm program before I can even use the Handspring again...

Visor Deluxe

Yea, my dads Visor Deluxe wont even sync with Now Contact in X. Its because they dont suppor Palm 4.0 with the Deluxe, and they never will

What's with that?

I have a Visor Edge and when Palm 4.0 came out, I was excited to switch. But new Palm OS isn't supported on Handspring. Handspring's website does, however, tell you what improvements have been made and what apps can help your Visor feel more like Palm OS 4.0

I'll try to find the link and post it here. Sorry to hear about sync problem. That really sucks.

This is just a follow up rumor but I talked to some of my friends about my incident and they told me that Palm doesn't want to help out Handspring anymore and that's supposedly why it doesn't work well under OS X. I'm not sure if this is true or not but I hope it's not true

bad blood...

I always thought that there was bad blood between Palm and Handspring anyway. Didn't the guy who started palm, leave because it got "too corporate" or something, then went off to start Handspring. I could be totaly wrong, but I think I remember hearing that somewhere.

Oh well, guess all we can do is pray for iWalk... well, something real, at least.

I have a Visor Deluxe and you are ALL Chicken Littles. DUDE. DON'T PANIC. My visor syncs FLAWLESSLY with Palm Desktop 4.0 in OS X. All you have to do is remove the Palm OS Updates folder. Do it now and your visor won't ask you to reset, and all your data will be there. LOL. Geez.....this info has been out there since 4.0 was released....

Okay, I have the visor deluxe also.....I did what you told...I tried it three times....I still get that stupid reset button....NOW WHAT?

After you removed the Palm OS udates folder did you resync? If it asked you to reset, then do it and resync again. If it still isn't working for you, then there is something uniquely wrong with your system. I did what I told you to do since the day Palm Desktop came out and have been syncing flawlessly since. I even did a clean install of 10.2 and reinstalled Palm and everything and did what I told you again, and once again everything is perfect. If it is not working for you then there is something else with your setup that is not right. This DOES work, it works perfectly, and many, many Visor owners are using it just fine. Handspring says that Palm Desktop is not compatible with the Visor, but that is complete BS. You remove the Palm OS updates folder and that is IT...IT WORKS PERFECT, I sync almost every day!!!

P.S. There is no "other solution", this is how you make it work. All stupid handspring has to do is tell people this or release a "special" handspring Palm desktop disc with the Palm OS updates folder taken out. Why they don't do it is beyond me. Handspring has been totally lame and irritating on this issue.

anyone else try this and get the same problems?

Thanks goes out to MacSurfer for his help, too.

I'll try it again one more time but if it still does the same thing, I probably won't use my Handspring for awhile.... but thanks for the help, though....

BTW, Thanks to LoveliestofMen also....
