I recently received my new thunderbolt equipped, base 15" MBP. It's been running great and is a massive improvement over my previous MBP, but I have noticed a apparent bug with it. I have the MBP connected to my 24" LED ACD and every so often the screen will flicker to a black screen then back to normal. I've tried repairing permissions and the disk but it still continues to do it. Has anyone else been experiencing this issue? Thoughts on wether it could be a driver issue or the start of something more serious? Would appreciate input and thoughts. Thanks!

I'm seeing this too, with 15" MBP.

Looks like we're not the only ones.

It's REALLY bad. About every 5-10 seconds it either flickers/tears like there's a bad signal, or it just turns off for half a second.

Edit: article with more info. Seems like it's only the 24" that's affected http://www.electronista.com/articles/11/03/05/macbook.pro.2011.triggers.24in.cinema.display.bug/

Update: after about an hour or so yesterday after first connecting the display, the issue just about went away for the rest of the day.

Now that I've got it reconnected again today for the first time, it is going crazy again, even worse. I am expecting it to "settle down" again in about an hour or so (let's hope).

Also happens to me on my MacBookPro5,3 15" MBP

Interesting to see this. I thought it was just an issue with my machine. This has been happening with my MacBookPro5,3 and the new 24" monitor I got this past summer. Happens intermittently; and I cannot track down the cause.

27" Flickering Cinema Display

Brand new mac book pro and now my cinema display flickers on and off. probably 2 times a minute. I see the thread on the 24" displays. Anyone else having this problem?

This sucks. I have a 27" ACD and want to buy the new mbp but this is troubling. Apple is usually good at fixing these things but sometimes fixes can take months (ACD USB sound issues). Hope this isn't like that

The 27" isn't affected.

The flickering of external monitors isn't limited to make, model or size.

I have the new 15" connected to a Dell U3011 monitor and it has flickered 3 times today.

To rule out the monitor and cable, I have had a mid 2010 15" hooked up for 2 months prior, without a flicker.
