All I do on my Macbook Pro is use Facebook, Twitter, pirate movies and music almost every day. Also will probably use Microsoft Word to write essays and occasionally use PowerPoint to produce presentations since I am in college.

Should I purchase a high end 15 inch Macbook Pro?

I am a very poor student and is living off Ramen noodles in my dorm room. Is getting this laptop justifiable? I want to be the cool kid with the new Macbook Pro in lecture.

Also, will this help me get girls? I am single.

Thanks guys, college is so tough.

Even a MacBook (Pro) from 2007 will do what you want. But yes, the bigger and faster the MBP, the more you will get laid, after all, it is quantity that counts.
Therefore I advise you to get the 17" with 2.3GHz and 512GB SSD and 8GB RAM. Porn will fly like the wind.

There's nothing sexier in college that a guy lugging his cutting edge Mac Pro around. So get the highest end Mac Pro and punani will be your staple food.

No need for high end model for that. Save the $400 and get the stock 15". The ladies won't know the difference.

Still don't know if it's justifiable, as any laptop made in the past four years would do that fine.

Not sure if this is a serious inquiry, but I will respond sincerely.

You don't need a powerful CPU to do any of this.

no, it would be a complete waste of $

not justifiable. If you are hell bent on getting a laptop with nice design buy a used 2008 MBP.

Also, will this help me get girls? I am single.
nope. just go meet a lot of girls and talk with them. what does a computer have to do with it?

It makes you professional and possibly am a "rich man" compared to if I used a Netbook, they would think I am a poor student (which I am).

Meh. If it isn't who you are, don't try to sell it. That never works well. Plus not a whole lot of ladies are interested in your computer. Showing that off will just make it look like you're trying too hard.

girls don't care about your computer, man.

they just want to meet guys who are fun to hang out with and not all insecure about themselves.

... I don't what to say to this thread. Just get a 13" MB or MBP as that's all you need. And no, having cool computers don't impress girls unless there geeks. :p

Get an Alienware and the nerd girls will love you for playing WoW. :p
( At my college having a Mac makes you stupid, so I stand out with my MB.)

If you are living off ramen noodles all day, buying the higher end machine is not a good decision.

That's probably why people can't take this thread very seriously. Adding the "will this help me get girls?" part just makes it worse. You better be damn good at computers to impress girls; only when you've already impressed them do you get a sweet machine to, err, sweeten the deal.

Oh yeah, about the Mac Pro: It definitely gets you girls; the key is pick up the hot art girls; the ones taking the classes that need a powerful Mac Pro for classes like animation; you know offer time on your machine in exchange for, uh, a good night. That way you don't even need to show it off; suggesting it's back in your crib should be sufficient.

What is punani?

Something you're trying to get. :p

Girls are the one that are attracted to guys who have cars. Same concept goes with your laptop and also something else I won't mention in this thread. :D

BTW, everything I say is serious. Especially using the Mac Pro to pick up the ladies. I'm speaking from experience. Why else would I spend $8000 on a computer with a foreign OS. Never understand why Apple installs this crappy OS called Snow Leopard; Windows 7 is the true and tried solution.

I would say the high end 15" until I seen you said facebook, **** you're gonna need a 17" with everything maxed out. :p

But on a serious note, for that **** you can get the cheapest one. I was pirating movies on my first crappy compaq laptop and thats like the most demanding thing you said.

are you out of our mind? Macbook pro will be way too slow for your use. You need a 12 core mac pro. It may slow down a bit if you are on facebook and twitter at the same time, but at least it will be usable.

Get a custom carrying frame so you can carry it on your back like a backpack. That should show the ladies how balling you are.

Remember to max out your ram on the mac pro tho, gonna help with the multitasking of twitter, facebook and itunes all at the same time.

This thread generated quite a few off-topic posts and some name-calling (since cleaned up), and I don't see it going anywhere it hasn't already gone, so it's now closed.
