We have a iMac 1.83 core duo, 2MB ram. It is our first mac & we are very happy with it running snow leopard. Unfortunately I gather I will not be able to upgrade to Lion as the imac is core duo. We cannot afford a new mac at the moment. How long will our imac be officially supported? Can we still use it after it is no longer officially supported maybe using the browser icab?

I thought one not so nice option would be to dual boot with win 7 business as is supported until 2020, this way I could still use itunes, 1Password,etc (My wife also does online exam marking & has to use windows, old xp thinkpad at the moment, end life 2014, so we will always need a supported copy of windows). This way we could continue to use all the mac software we love, iphoto, fission, toast etc that make using a mac the best! Linux is not an option as we us itunes to organise music on our ipod.

Any advice is appreciated!
