Target Information

Hey team:

So I went tonight and did some investigative work at the local Target store. I found the DPCIs to many of the Ipad 2's. They already had the strips in the shelving and you could see the DPCI numbers by the barcodes. DPCIs are Target's unique stock keeping unit (basically, Target's UPC/SKU).

I wasn't able to write them all down. I only wrote down 4, which one of these 4 I'm still up in the air about purchasing.

What you can do with a DPCI is that you can walk up to any price scanner at Target and just start punching the numbers in. It will tell you if they have them in the backroom and also tell you how much they are. Unfortunately, the DPCIs are not working yet as I tried them on the scanner but it said, "ITEM NOT FOUND." Which just really means they DPCIs haven't been activated yet.

I will be working all day but if some of you can call around and even check the DPCIs in your local stores that would be great. Check to see if they have on hands. You can also just call any Target, reach the operator, and tell them you have a DPCI that you want to see if it is in stock or not.

Let me know what you guys find.. oh and I asked the Electronics employee about the release (5pm, how many, etc) and he didn't know - I always see this kid there so I was surprised.

Also just to mention, anytime there is a timeline on a release then it is hard locked at the POS (Point of Sale). If it is scheduled for a 5PM release then it doesn't matter what manager or anyone tries to sell you before that time. It won't ring up period. Just an FYI..

I work tonight so I'll check the DPCIs in the target system and see what I can find. The smart covers and dock are already on target.com with a release date of tomorrow.

I'm interested in the 32GB Black Wifi myself.

I have a easy question.

Is it possible to pay with two different payment types at Target? I know some places allow you to do this...

Yes, you can do this. Cash + GC, CC + GC, 2xCCs, etc. Just tell the cashier before ring up.

Just went to a Target in Chicago. No iPad 2's tomorrow, not till next week is the rumor they are hearing. Totally word of mouth so don't take it without salt.

So I also have a Target RedCard which is good for 5% off. How does tax figure into all that? And the splitting of payments?

EDIT: If they calculate it like the way I think would make the most sense then I got it figured out...

But I am getting freaked out.

Walmart is only carrying 4!!!!

I wonder if Target will do more than that.

Where did you see that Walmart is only carrying 4?

Also, Target is my main brick and mortar store to get my hands on one. I'll be out of town this weekend, but I'll take time out of my busy schedule just to pick one up!

Call them up and ask them. They should be able to tell you the on hands. If they can't look it up yet (they ought to be able to) then the Team Leader (Department Manager) in Electronics will definitely be able to tell you as long as they already have in the backroom. That's if he/she is any good.

Also, if the store doesn't have them yet, depending on their truck schedule they might not get them until as late as 10a tomorrow when the FedEx and UPS delivers generally occur. Although they probably wouldn't be on the floor till noon in that case unless someone rushes the receiver (unlikely).

I stopped by my local target today and then electronics gentlemen said they would get 10 of them. They had some dpci hanging in the ipad case but not all. Here are the ones they had:

my local target says they are likely getting them, but check back tomorrow afternoon to make sure. i sure hope they have the one i want, or i may wait.

You must mean 10 of each model? Since they have a spot/number for 14 models.

Just got a text from a girl that manages a Target in Minnesota. Never mentioned this thread to her and she said her Target is getting 10 as well.

10 of each model would be great! Especially if typical of high population areas.

Just because they have the DPCI and shelf space doesn't necessarily mean that they're going to get them all in right? I'm more on the pessimistic side I suppose

I'm thinking more along the lines of only 10 Ipad 2s. Like 3-3-4 or something of different models.
