Should the battery be draining when in stand by? Like with in a day or two be out of battery? I always need to completely shut it off or after say just 2-3 days I may be at 50% already. I've tried rebooted.
I haven't tried it with IOS4.3.
Is this normal? Software or hardware issue?

Yes, the battery continues to drain in stand-by mode, just like any other battery powered device. 50% drain in 2 days in stand-by is pretty good. No need to worry.

50% drain in 2 days in standby is not good at all. iPad has 30 days of standby so you can do the math.

Something is wrong (is your wifi/3g turning off when in standby? try to turn them off manually and observe if the draining continues...)

I haven't experienced near that amount of drain. I can test today's drain and report back.

3G is off.
Good question Julien.
I get great battery when using it.
But two days a go I was at 30%, left it in stand by, came back and I got the red battery screen. :(

Turn Notifications off.

Having them on, kills standby battery life.

When I first got my iPad I would lose 1-2% in standby overnight.

Now I am losing 10-15% in standby overnight (with no apps running)

I have noticed the battery has been declining since January so I figured it is just because the battery is getting older.

How old is your iPad?

This morning I shut everything off and I'll see where it is at the end of the day.

Got it last June.
I've read it might be a software issue, so maybe 4.3 will help.

Umm, what?

I can not touch my ipad for 1-2 days and when I come back it'll have drained 1-3% at most.

50% drain in 2 days is absolutely not normal at all.

Put it in Airplane mode before you turn it off: standby drain will be negligible.

Don't shut it off, when your done with the iPad just close out the multitasking bar and put it in airplane mode. If I don't use it for 1 day I only lose maybe 1% battery.

No that is not normal. If I don't charge my iPad and don't use it for a day I typically see it drop about 5%.

You have something else going on that is draining the battery. You don't mention if you are just using WiFi or 3G, but one big battery drainer I've seen is if your 3G connection isn't stable and it keeps trying to reconnect.

So this morning I changed the email to manual. Plus I had updated to 4.3 the night before. Left it in sleep mode. 12 hours later and I was at 100%
Problem must be solved. :)
