Targus Rotating Stand/Case for iPad 2 = AWESOME

Hello everyone,

Just wanted to share a customer review for anyone looking for a great case (promise I don't work for Targus!). Rec'd my order from Amazon yesterday for the Targus Versavu 360 degree rotating stand/case (model THZ045US). Fit and finish are superb. iPad 2 locks into a hard case with a leather back and then a leather front folds for the portfolio look. The swivel mechanism works great and frames the Apple logo on the back of the iPad 2. This might be one of my favorite things about it - looks really cool as well as being a great feature.

Here's a link on Amazon's site with good pics - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004N62HZI.

Happy case shopping to all... I am glad I found one that I love!

Wow, I have been using the one I bought for my iPad 1 for my iPad 2. But I really like this new version of the case. Anyone found these in stores yet? Would like to buy one today.

It looks like it adds a lot of bulk to the iPad.

Most best buys seem to have these in stock.

Agree - bulk equals protection. But not too bulky to be honest. Just right for me.

Does have an odor, but not offensive to me. Just got it yesterday....on mine you literally have to have your nose to it to smell it. I read that it goes away after a few days.

Haven't seen any of these in stores yet. To be honest, selection of iPad 2 cases in store has really sucked. Amazon shipped pretty quickly tho so if you order today you should have it next week.

Hm, not in the Cincinnati area. I just called the 4 stores closest to me, along with the ken wood apple store.....

As far as the smell, like I said I have the IPad 1 version of this case. The smell goes away after about a month. As far as the bulkyness, the case offers great protection and is easy to hold in situations where the iPad is in danger of being dropped. If your letting a friend use it you have the peace of mind of it being ok if they drop it etc. It easy to take out of the case if you know the iPad will be safe. This new version seems to take away allot of the bulk.

When I bought my IPad 1 I tried a bunch of different cases before settling on the targus (truss case). If you buy the new version you won't be disappointed, they offer the best balance between protection and ease of use IMO.

Me Too !

I owned the Targus Ipad 1 Truss case which is similar and really liked it. When picked up the Ipad 2 at BB on Friday 3/18/11 they just started selling the Targus Ipad 2360 swivel case.

It adds a little bit of weight and thickness to the Ipad 2 but also adds a bunch of style and protection because of the hard shell the Ipad 2 sits in.

The smell went away after about 1 day.

I also had a chance to play with one of the Ipad 2 covers from Apple. I have to admit the self centering feature is cool with the magnets but I still prefer the Targus Ipad 2 360 case.

Just my 2 cents worh

I also own this case and im glad Its the one I went with. I almost fell for the smart cover hype but then thought about the practicality of it and it just didnt make sense for the money. The targus 360 does add bulk, but not a whole lot, looks professional, and stands any way i want it to (portrait, landscape, slight angle for typing, lid flipped behind to hold in one hand) really the best case for the buck in my opinion.

I saw this on sale at the Apple Store in McLean, Va. today. It looked really sleek and stylish.

It's too bad that the video accompanying the listing on Amazon doesn't actually show the 360-degree rotation in motion. I'd really like to see how that works before I'd commit to buying it.

I dig the targus cases for the ipad 1.

I have question about this one though....Is the hard backing (where the iPad snaps into place) rough on the back of the ipad??

Is it lined with anything or is just hard plastic on the aluminum back? And do you think this could lead to scratching the back of the ipad?

thanks!

Mine came yesterday and when I smelled it, I immediately put it on the balcony and had myself screened for cancer.

It attaches to the hard plastic very securely - doesn't move so can't scratch the back - hasn't scratched mine at least.

To all that are hating on the smell - maybe your noses are more sensitive than mine...it is not that bad!

I just picked one of these up and I have to say that after using the forever falling off smart cover it is awesome. I have had many cases but this one is solid and being able to rotate the screen is pretty cool. It is stylish, provides ample protection, functions perfectly, and is solid. Love it well with the price.

I love this case!!! but the smell is something I can do without. It quite strong and I really worry about what people who come in close proximity to me (when I am carrying my iPad) will think. As long as they don't associate the smell with me I guess

I've had mine a week now...the smell is almost completely gone. I have to literally have my nose less than an inch from it to smell it. So for all of you worried about the smell....there is hope!

Magnetic Strip

Taped a piece of strip magnet to the cover, now it wakes my ipad2 upon opening and sleeps when shut.

The smell went away after a few days. Where would you place the magnet on the cover to control the screen sleep ?

I almost bought this case last night at BB, but when I felt the rotating plastic on the back where the back of the iPad would rest, I wondered if that wheel, for lack of a better term, would scratch the aluminum backing. I'm glad to hear that you haven't had any scratches.

I chose the the one that didnt swivel because I HATED the look of the 360, Plus I hardly ever use my ipad in portrait anyway.

For me it seemed like there wasn't really an angle created for typing. Just two viewing angles for vertical n horizontal. It's a nice looking case! But the added bulk made it heavy in the hand when usinging it. For travel tho it has really good padded protection. I personally just couldn't take the weight wen holding it with one hand viewing anything for to long. I returned it, went home n placed an order for the STM skinny.
