Just got my 120GB vertex 3 ssd from newegg delivered and installed in my MBP 2011 13". So far no problems no beachballing like in the intel 510 ssd I read. I enabled Trim support using trim enabler worked perfectly.

I ran AJA System Test here are the results:

I/O Transactions
Frame MB/sec
.......Read Write
00.0 512.0 501.7
01.0 516.7 509.0
02.0 518.4 497.4
03.0 525.2 462.3
04.0 516.2 478.4
05.0 519.2 473.5
06.0 519.0 477.7
07.0 518.6 476.0
08.0 520.1 484.1
09.0 518.1 471.6
10.0 517.9 499.2
11.0 522.9 485.9
12.0 523.6 489.7
13.0 524.5 485.5
14.0 515.5 491.1
15.0 517.9 487.9

Loving this drive :D

EDIT: why am I a chipotle BBQ snack wrap?

Me two :) . You have the same setup, so I'll have to use that bench your using.

here are the Xpbench scores for the Vertex 120 I just installed in a 2011 13" 2.7Ghz. The Intel 510 didn't work.

Results 428.53
System Info
Xbench Version 1.3
System Version 10.6.7 (10J3250)
Physical RAM 8192 MB
Model MacBookPro8,1
Drive Type OCZ-VERTEX3
Disk Test 428.53
Sequential
Uncached Write 209.12 MB/sec [4K blocks]
Uncached Write 226.37 MB/sec [256K blocks]
Uncached Read 35.27 MB/sec [4K blocks]
Uncached Read 310.47 MB/sec [256K blocks]
Random
Uncached Write 133.61 MB/sec [4K blocks]
Uncached Write 205.35 MB/sec [256K blocks]
Uncached Read 21.21 MB/sec [4K blocks]
Uncached Read 293.92 MB/sec [256K blocks]

note: not an April 1 joke, belive it or not. If it was, I would have jacked up the scores to the manufacturer's lofty claims LOL

So it's using the SATA 6gbps link. I didn't do anything special really. I did reset the SMC/pram thingy before I initialized it. This time I looked to see if it was negotiating before I initialized. I suggest to use this approach, but it probably doesn't make any difference. The Intel didn't work and this one does?, WTF?. All the theories about the crippled cable, and whatever are maybe moot, i'm afraid.

I rest the pram after installing all the updates from software update. Didnt notice a difference. Idk what intel has going on with the 510 but thankfully the vertex 3 doesnt have problems (knock on wood)

What file size did you use for the AJA bench? I'm not getting the same as yours, although close enough.

I don't want to try to time a boot. I did that once and regretted it :D

Are boot times slower on SSD's compared to 54 or 7200's?

lol not at all i think he meant he gets paranoid comparing his boot times to other ssds. SSD boot times are 4+ times faster than a 7200rpm HDD

are you guys having any sleep issues when the mbp goes to auto sleep? what about hibernation?

oh buddy,im so jealous,[jus kidding,im only a little bit lol]
thats great,feel good for u,
cant wait to get one myself,so glad uve had no probs with it,was considering 510 but going v-3 now for sure,i had v-2 120 and it was fantastic, good one ,thanx for post too,now to see when the hell they willl get to aus, dammit!!!!

I was lucky enough to get a Vertex 3 for 275 on newegg. It will be here on Monday. Im glad compatibility hasn't been an issue so far. Anyone else have any numbers they can share?

here is my video comparison showing the vertex 3 kicking other SSD's butts:

That's pretty cool :) Any chance you could post a video with some real-world testing? Like, launching a bunch of apps? Maybe some loading time in a game or something? :D

I'm considering getting a Vertex 3 too. I was wondering, does TRIM work with the Macbook Pro 2011 by default or do you need to apply that TRIM-enabler hack?

To the people in this thread who got one: are you noticing any stability problems or performance issues? :)

I think the hack has to be used with all 3rd party SSDs. Hopefully Lion brings full TRIM support out of the box.
