iSight Revision Soon?

According to ThinkSecret, iSights are in scarce supply at many retailers including some Apple Retail stores, with a revised model due out soon.

At the Apple online store, the iSight lists as part number M8817LL/C (up from B), and is scheduled for delivery 1-2 weeks from now.

I'd like to see a built in light that would automatically adjust to low light situations... and a remote control swivel functionality (yeah right). Bundling some additional software (like Evocam) might be nice as well.

It's a "C" rev - I doubt you'll regret getting your "B" revs. Probably nothing substantial.

It should probably be noted that the "B" revision was new mounting hardware to allow them to work with the new Aluminum displays. This upgrade/update is probably minor, if anything. It may simply be a change in manufacturing ramps.

There wasn't a helluva of a difference between A and B, was there?

The iSight is good, but it would be nice for it to get better. And cheaper. That way I could get one.

My "A" is still sitting in it's case waiting for friends to really use theirs. I hope Adium will be able to support video soon. I really dislike iChat, the only thing it's good for is transferring files, which again, I hope adium can fix on their app.

But! I hear that iChat will have tabbed windows which might make me switch back. But Adium is soooo choice...

Cheers.

Whatever they release I hope it'll include a firmware update that allows older iSights to play nice with other firewire devices.

Talking PTZ iSight?

A Pan, Tilt and Zoom iSight with remote access would be awesome!

I have no regrets I love my iSight. Its very usful not only for video chat but for taking short videos with iMovie.

I just wish they didn't cost so much.

Funny, the Rev A model is still selling at some retailers, the Rev B (current?) model's price went up this weekend at Amazon.com (Why I don't know.) I hope that there is an improvement of the resolution, and I would hope that the price drops or doesn’t increase.

Also the iSight case that was once sold, has long since been discontinued. I have been doing my research, I want an iSight so that I can do some small short stop animation films. I can justify an iSight if my significant other gets into grad-school this year.

Better Quality Video

What about just increasing the quality of the picture? If they could get the resolution up to full Broadcast Quality (NTSC and PAL, I'm not asking for HD) then using an iSight with iMovie would be much cooler. iSights would actually have a practical use beyound iChating then.

I suspect you won't be buying for a long time. This is probably below or close to Apple's cost.

maybe it will somehow be more suitable to h.264, or be an HD cam, or better yet, be cheaper for us all!
