G3 Powerbook help

Hey guys. I've got a G3 Powerbook, don't know the specific model at the moment, running OS 9 that's stopped working. Over the past long while, if the computer froze, it would have to be unpluged and plugged back in several times to work. Now even that has stopped working. Any ideas on what's wrong or how to fix it?

Does it even start up?

Have you tried zapping PRAM on start up?

Check http://www.apple-history.com to find out the model, it would be a great help.

Sorry I can't be of more specific help, but make sure you've at least tried the basics first, especially points 7 and 8. Could be the clock battery, too.

As for which model it is, does it have FireWire? if so, it's a Pismo. Does it have USB, but no FireWire? That's a Lombard. Older than those (no USB or FireWire) are PDQ, Wallstreet or Kanga.

I won't even start up. And I think it's a Pismo.

Nothing happens, I believe. It's one of my friend's computer. I haven't seen it first hand yet. She's going to be getting it to me this weekend.

Unplug, Pull the battery out, then hold down the reset button on the back (beside the modem jack) for 5 sec.
Than put the battery in, plug in, restart with Command-Option-P-R held down, until it chimes twice, then see if it boots up. You will probably get further than you did before, if it has the flashing question mark, proceed to OS9 reinstallation and/or disk repair from the CD
