Found a 27" i7 3.4ghz Geekbench score

i really dont get the hype with geekbench score, its just a syntethic benchmark

Strange, as the i7 is available only in the Apple Online Store and can be delivered in 1-3 days only.

Finally got back from the apple store and have my imac all setup.
Sucks they turned me away in the morning, but at least they called me in the afternoon to let me know they came in.

Here is an initial run on geekbench. May be a bit low cause i had other stuff running and had just installed a ton of apps.
I plan on putting in an SSD and 4g more of ram at some point in the future.

This is my first imac, i've always had the laptops. All I can say is wow, this screen is really nice and really big.

and it's going to take a while to get used to the magic mouse... (eyeing the razer naga next to me)

Yeah, they carry the i7 in the stores. I was rather shocked and prepared to go with the i5 if they didn't have it.

Was hoping for something closer to the Mac Pro Hex's score of over 15k.

yeah it could max at 13100
with 16gb ram and an ssd.

i have scored 16250 with a hex 3.33 32gb ram. cost 4k

I have scored 15750 with a modded hex 3.2 32gb ram cost 3.5k

so the imac is not too bad a deal. at a 2.5k cost with the ram.

You can buy the 27" 3.4GHz model in stores withe the 6970M (1GB) and not sure of the disk (I think just a 1TB HDD). It's a standard retail channel configuration.

This PC scores 17000 with only 8 gb ram ( 3.4 ghz i7 2600k ). I don't think the amount of ram is important.

ram will boost each computer differently.

Not a lot but some maybe 5%.

same as the hdd/ssd.

geekbench is more a test of cpu speed then any other component.

My mac pro went from 9700 to 15100 by changing the cpu. then i went from 15100 to 15500 by going from 12gb ram to 32gb ram.

xbench will really go up with an ssd or a fast hdd it favors the drive in the score.

I was trying to say that the imac has good scores 11700 with 32 bit geekbench and 12700 with 64 bit geekbench. Those are very good scores. I figure adding the ram will boost the score about 200 or 300 points max.

For real world if he is not using the ram it won't make the machine any faster. Still a score of 12700 and a nice 27 inch screen with 4gb ram is good very good.

Note also that my result is on 32-bit. I don't have the license for geekbench so i can't run 64-bit.
