How to clean iPhone charging port?

I noticed there is quite a bit of dust in my iPhone charging port...do you think this will eventually affect charging/syncing? And what can I do to clean it without causing any damage? Thanks!

I've been using a hoover. It works like a charm. Turn down the power though

Yeah, I use that stuff for my PC and Keyboard. Btw, has yours gone guey? After about two months of use, the putty has gone much more sticky and oozy. Should I buy a new pack? My room is relatively warm all the time, could this be affecting it?

I use a toothbrush + 99% isopropyl alcohol. Usually it doesn't set off the LSI, but just to be safe, don't use isopropyl alcohol if your phone is still under warranty.
