Handbrake problems ripping The Green Hornet

I have handbrake and VLC, both 64 bit. Been able to rip all other dvd's but for some odd reason the green hornet always locks up scanning on track 23 of 30. Any ideas? Any better decrypting programs for MAC? I do own the copy, just trying to archive all of my media on a drive to stream to apple TV.

Maybe rip first, then transcode:
How to backup/copy/rip video DVDs to your HDD and transcode them to another format in Mac OS X.

use RipIT from Little app factory. will make a single file copy of your dvd that handbrake will use to transcode. absolutely the best approach

Play the movie in DVD Player, and click the chapter display window until it displays the track/title set (may say something like 50/99; in this case, it would be 50). Close DVD Player, open Handbrake and close the window that pops up asking for the source, then go to "File, Open Source (Title Specific)..." and pick the disc, then type in the track/title set number from before, and then proceed as usual. This will skip the dummy track.

I had this same problem trying to rip it. I tried Handbrake, Mac the Ripper, and RipIt but none of them work. It gets stuck on scanning chapter 23.

I gave up.

Try these steps.. Worked perfectly for me for the DVD version. Basically a Hybrid of steps above. NOTE: Using latest version of Mac Handbrake.

Put move in Mac and allow DVD Player to launch.
Start actual movie. While Movie is playing, navigate to GO >> Title and note which title is Checked. I believe it was 1 in my case.

Close DVD Player

Launch Handbrake (if not already launched).

Cancel out of OPEN location.

Go to File >> Open Source (Title Specific) and click the DVD in the Sources List.

Enter the Track that was checked when prompted.. (1 in my case). The movie and tracks and length should match.. Handbrake away..

My only delta from the instructions above is the checking the track/title display.. That didnt help. It was easier from the Go menu of DVD Player.

Hope this helps.. It worked for a dozen or so discs for me so far.

I might add the you don't even have to cancel out of the open source window, when choosing the source hold down the Option key while clicking Choose, it will go right to the select title number pane. Saves a couple steps.

Thanks, the fix worked for me.

Track 23 was giving me problems.

I came here to say that. I play the DVD in DVD Player, watching which chapter the main movie is, then I go to Handbrake and rip just that chapter. Works wonders.

Is there any reason not to do this every time and skip that long initial scan as long as you know the track number? That would cut out a ton of time.

Thanks!
