new 27 inch imac worth the upgrade

I have a 27 inch c2d 3.06 imac, I am thinking about upgrading to the new 2011 27 inch imac. do you think it is worth it, will i notice a difference in normal computing.
 
It really depends on what you do with your current iMac. In situations where you don't do anything demanding, an SSD would be just fine.

I can't really say if it will be worth it, since you are providing enough detail on what you use it for an what model you are thinking about upgrading to.

C2D handles web, itunes and pictures fine (unless if you mean large-file picture editing).
My MBA does those things faster than my iMac i7.

I use the i7 CPU power for intensive video editing.
 
It sounds like you don't do very much CPU-intensive things with your computer. Why not just get the base model 21.5" iMac? It will do everything you need it to do at a very reasonable price.

What things are there that your current 27" iMac doesn't do, and that the new one would do?

If the iMac is for business use: How much more money would you make with the new iMac?

If the iMac is for private use: How much happier would you be with the new iMac?

If he waited this long he might as well wait for Haswell. Ivy Bridge is supposed to be more of a minor update. The OP clearly doesn't know what he wants, and he hasn't even mentioned what he does. This sounds like an impulse buy. If you aren't doing anything that is truly demanding on either the cpu or gpu, and you don't need ram beyond the maximum level your current machine will accept, it's pointless.

For the OP, when is your current computer slowing down? Where were you hoping for more speed? Most people never understand this stuff.
