How do I make my 3GS run faster....

WITHOUT jalbreaking it?

My phone has gotten hideously slow. Woudl backing it up, completely wiping it clear, and then restoring the apps & data make it run at all faster, or am I just blowing smoke up my own ass?

My 3GS bogs down every once in a while, restarting seems to help. If it gets too bad there's not much you can do besides restoring.

You can overclock it, but that makes it run hotter and also runs down the battery. Two suggestions, first do a hard reset. If that doesn't work then hook the phone to iTunes and do a restore as new. I have a 3GS that is jailbroken and it runs everything fast. There must be something in your phone that's causing it to bog down and restoring it should cure it.
