Macbook Pro spec'd thusly for multitacking/sequencing?

2011 15' /2.2 /8G RAM macbook pro - with Sata III SSD as the boot drive and the stock 7200 RPM HDin an optibay for samples and audio.

ANyone with a similar configuration able to do the folowing?

1. Run Mainstage live with large piano libraries streaming effortlessly and glitch free.

2. Record and mix large projects, mostly audio, but also with some sample libraries being used.

My optical drive has a 3G link speed, not 6.....At some point I may put a SATA II SSD in there as well. Will this link speed end up being a bottleneck?
