Hey c++ people, a friend of mine is going to be doing some c++ coding next year for grad school and is trying to find out what tools exist for doing this on a mac. Can you give her any advice in the way of compilers or other tools that work well for mac? I get the feeling she would rather stay away from emacs and a command line compiler, but please give me your thoughts. Thanks in advance for the advice!

There are a couple of GUI development suites available. One is from Apple and comes free with Mac OS X. You/she can find out more about it here: http://developer.apple.com/

http://www.metrowerks.com is the source of the other suite: CodeWarrior. A lot of older software for Macintosh was written using this suite, but it's expensive. It makes up for it with the quality of code from the compilers
