VMWare vs Bootcamp Gaming Performance

Can I run Flight Simulator X on windows 7 via Vmware? Will the performance be much different than on bootcamp? The reason why I am using vmware over bootcamp is because I cannot seem to install bootcamp.

15" MBP
2.3 Quad Core i7
8GB Ram
 
performance in bootcamp will be better than any emulation. how much better, i don't know.

You don't have to use Bootcamp Assistant to install windows. There are other ways if you are willing to do the research.
