New MBP here, and a pretty long-time user of OSX. But I tried Migration Assistant and selected what I figured was the minimum amount of data (I don't want to bring over the CRAP from my dying old MBP, even if that means lots of reinstalling/resetting preferences, etc). It brought too much crap, so I'd like to just use a different User account to take what I want, then delete this user account.
Can I simply COPY my iTunes, iPhoto, Mail, and the things that I *want* from the User account that was used with Migration ASsistant over to the account I want to use (same machine), without messing with file permissions?
I saw an old thread that used some very kludgy Terminal codes, and if that's the answer, then fine, but it sure felt like it was a messy way to do it.
Any advice would be great. I do have my current MBP right next to it, but I need to use it for work to pay for this new MBP while files are transferring, so Target Disk mode is really a last resort.
Thanks!
