I had the M4 in my MBP 13" but it wasn't fully stable. Freezes sometimes.

Now there's new firmware though, I wonder if it's better now.

Or is anyone running the C300 stable?

i have the m4 64 gb in my mbp 13" i5 and my pc gaming rig. but running perfectly. Both being run with the firmware it came with last week.

I am running a M4 with the latest firmware and I am not having any problems at all. Before that I had some freezes but now nothing.

What sort of problems should I expect?

I've been using a C300 256G model in my '11 MBP for several months now and it works great.

I'm now in need of more space and was leery of ordering the M4 512Gb drive because of all the negative posts on Crucial's forum. However, now that they've released the v002 firmware, I decided to give it a shot. The drive will arrive tomorrow and I'll see how it goes.

I've been leery of the Crucial SSD's due to the various issues I've read about, but since I found one on eBay for a steal ($290 for the C300 256GB brand new), I decided to give it a go.

Firmware 006 out of the box, installed on my 15" 2011 MBP for the past few days, no problems thus far. I've tried to replicate some of the conditions for the beachballing/freezing, such as putting the MBP to sleep, but it's been running without problems.

It seems like many of the issues are on the 13" MBP, and not reading about many cases for the 15".

Hey km, I saw that you saw a C300 256gb for 290 bucks. Well I searched ebay for that C300 256gb and I couldn't find anything below $400. Are you lying?

I am just asking because 1) 290 bucks seems too good to be true and 2) I couldn't find anything on ebay. And you made this post just recently.

Btw I checked the prices of the C300 the last couple of months and the lowest I have ever seen was 365 dollars

I'm running a 128GB M4 on my 2011 MBP. I installed it about three weeks ago and I'm still using the out-of-the-box firmware (haven't upgraded to 0002 yet -- a lot of 2011 MBP owners in the Crucial forums have been unsuccessful). I haven't really had any issues with OS X (I'm using Trim Enabler, btw), but I've experienced a couple beachballs when running my Win7 VM using Parallels 6. Once was on the first boot of the VM after installation and the other was during the pre-reboot phase of Windows Update. Other than those incidents, it's been a good experience so far.

EDIT: Some Mac owners in the Crucial forums indicated that the 0002 Firmware for M4 fixes the Win7/Parallels issue due to a LPM fix.

I bought it over a week ago on eBay - I just got real lucky and the bidding ended at like $293 + $11 shipping.

As you can see, it turned out to be too good a deal to pass up.

How could it only have cost you 304 bucks in total. Thats insane for a 256gb of ANY kind. But now its also a c300.

It makes me feel so ashamed for buying a 256gb m4 for 455 bucks.

I don't know the why, but it arrived brand new, and is now working flawlessly in my MBP so far.
I wanted to get another one for my gf, and just missed out on a C300 256gb on eBay that ended this morning - I think it sold for $320-$340 after shipping, but this one was from Europe.

I can't boot the linux update boot disc because i only have an external USB cdrom drive... ugh. gotta figure something out.

Fortunately, i seem to be one of the few who haven't had many problems with the M4. Seems to work great and it only beachballs once a week or so. Since 10.6.8 i've had zero issues at all.

No issues here at all. Using the M4 with Firmware 0002 and TRIM enabled. no freezes, no beachballs.....great performance....

Been a couple of weeks since I've installed the C300, and no issues to report. My xbench scores for the HD section:

Got the Crucial M4 in my MBP now with firmware 2. Runs stable.

Battery life is much better than with Vertex 3.

I have a 512GB m4 for sale if anyone is interested. I don't have a PC in the house so I haven't upgraded the firmware - decided to go another route instead of staying with it. Just PM me.

Also, crucial c300

works with artefacts on MBP 2011 13" core i7:

sometime Mac OS doesn't boot, just spinning ball
or freezes withour any chances.

i think that's ssd firware issue.

Can anyone with Crucial M4 128GB or 256GB post his Xbench result? I only get 405 but I think that's because my OS X partition is only ~60GB.

My Macbook Pro 15" 2011 freezes for 20 seconds randomly with Crucial M4 256GB

Try firmware 2.

With firmware 1 I got freezes. Firmware 2 runs fantastic. (Crucial M4 256GB MBP 2011 13" Core i5)

I thought about upgrading my 128gb C300 to 500Gb+ so that I don't need a 2nd drive, but I can't swallow spending close to $1k on a storage device :)

I really hope in a year or so we will be able to get the same drives for under $500, then I'll jump in.
